Did You Hear the Big News?
Kahlil and I are moving to Arizona and we are BEYOND excited to share the news with everyone.
When asked, Why Arizona? We both seem to say in unison, Why New York? But, since some people (mostly New Yorkers) need an explanation, let’s talk about it!
#1 Tired of Being Sick and Tired
Do you enjoy the cold weather? We don’t. With allergies and inconsistent New York weather, Natasha has struggled with breathing through her nose for at least seven years. This makes no sense at all! Not being able to properly breathe is unacceptable and there is something we can actually do about it. We are moving to a place with better air quality, superb weather conditions, and a whole new way of living. Goodbye New York!
#2 Expensive Doesn’t Always Mean Better
New York isn’t what it used to be. When we were growing up, the city seemed to be a much different place. With the insane growth of homelessness and the angry attitudes encountered on the street, the disparity between people truly blows us away. Even though New York is one of the most expensive cities to live, it is not one of the best cities to live in. Why pay more to be more unhappy?
#3 Misery Loves Company
While sharing the big news with friends and family, do you think everyone reacted the same way? Absolutely not. Not to our surprise, the non-New Yorkers said, “Congratulations” or “I am so happy for you.” While, the New Yorkers said, “Why Arizona?”, “How could you leave New York?”, “What about your New York connections?”
Isn’t that ridiculous? We understand misery loves company, but we refuse to be miserable… No matter what! There is a much bigger world outside of New York and the United States. Stop deluding yourself into thinking that there isn’t.
#4 Need Dog-Friendly Living
We truly enjoy the outdoors when it’s not so cold outside. Often, we need to take pictures and film videos outdoors. Do you know how hard it is to do this in New York? You can catch pneumonia trying to take pictures or shoot videos in the cold; not to mention, we would like to do more outdoor activities with our dog J.J. who loves running outside. Arizona will be a much-needed change of scenery for our entire household.
#5 Ready for A New Adventure
Helen Keller once said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Moving to Arizona will be the next chapter in our life. This chapter will be filled with new people, places, and experiences. This adventure is exactly what we want and need.
#6 Hypothyroidism Indoors Sucks
Last May, Natasha was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and it was quite an eye-opening experience. She has been forced to take daily medication, change her eating habits, and prioritize her health in a whole new way. Working out and enjoying nature in the warmth is something she really needs, to live better. Goodbye New York! We can’t take the cold anymore :p
#7 Joining Great Company
Arizona isn’t that far from Vegas and California. And, we can’t wait to connect with the bloggers, writers, artists, entrepreneurs, podcasters, and businesses out there. Hello Arizona!
